1.Tell me a little bit about yourself (i.e.: education, career, personal interests, etc)
I am a designer and stylist for my brand Anara Original. I am the editor for Blondie Jones Life & Style Blog and author of The Playbook to Essential Style. I have an AS & BA degree in Fashion Design and Marketing, which I completed in 3 years. I love all things fashion, however I also love to write, I love music, I love visual merchandising – I create a career and life that I love filled with all the things I love. In my spare time I love watching Big Bang Theory, Cooking & entertaining, Planning Parties, Singing, and Traveling.
2.How did you fall into the fashion industry?
I was always around well-dressed people; I believe this made it easier to love fashion. From the time I was about 11 or 12 I knew I wanted to be a fashion designer. My fondest memory as a child was going to Donna Karan Outlet with my family and I immediately fell in love with her designs. It was at that moment I knew I was going to be in the fashion industry and that I had expensive taste.
3.You are a serial entrepreneur; how do you stay on top of things while managing your personal life?
I am still learning how to balance and separate the two. However, I have a to-do list handy, and I have a schedule of what tasks should happen on their scheduled day. This strategy keeps me pretty focused. Prioritizing is definitely key to getting my duties completed.
4.Tell me about your book?
The Playbook to Essential Style is all about the essential garments and accessories you should have in your closet. The book offers strategies on how to build your wardrobe from the ground up. I discuss play by-play tips and directions on how to define your look, exploring your style, and executing pairing and versatility option effortlessly.
5.We all stumble at some point of our lives, was there ever a time in your life where you wanted to give up? What did you learn from it?
Life happens. I have been discouraged, afraid, and overwhelmed, but that’s when I continue to pray and praise God for all he has done and what he plans to do. My mom always told me “it won’t be like this always” – I hope, believe and have faith and press just a little harder toward my dreams.
6.What does my freshman year of life mean to you?
My Freshman year of life began September 20th, 2014 when I married Kevin Jones, this began a new chapter. Everything in my business since that day has been inspired by our love and our story. For example I held my book launch at the location we were married on the 20th day of the month. My blog Blondie Jones was also influenced by the new chapter of married life. My Freshman year is pretty awesome.
7.What happened when you didn’t step outside your comfort zone?
I am a believer in being true to yourself. the purest thing you can do in life is to be honest with yourself. There aren’t many times I stayed in a box. If I don’t stay outside my comfort zone, I am not being Sara. I thrive on being unique. When I didn’t step outside the box I became unfocused.
8.If you were to write a letter to your younger self about pursuing your dream what would you tell her?
When I was younger I always had a job which equaled to lots of financial freedom. I would tell little Sara – to stop shopping at King of Prussia mall in Armani Exchange with your best friend Murshid! Save your money, invest your money because you’re going to need it for the empire you’re going to build. Trust your decisions and always pray before you make a move.
9.Any future projects we should look out for?
